@maleficentdiva what you speak is so utterly true! I was nor born in this era but it was so glamorous and feminine. These days women want to look as if they were out of an assembly line: Blonde, Orangey tan plus bolted on boobs, dreadful. I look at these vintage videos and I am hooked. My grandma is 82 years and she talks about how women in those days took pride in looking soft and feminine without being vulgar.

I kind of feel like I just witnessed a cliche precursor to girl-on-girl action.

@sethocopia well said fashion is a ‘yes’ ideaology is a ‘no’ cute pin-up style is awesome but as long as you are doing it for yourself and for fun not to ‘land a husband’ as girls of the time were raised to

yes it sure enough is true that women enjoyed being a woman back in the 40′s, they love wearing what science had made affordable

@maleficentdiva Femininity, like masculinity is socially constructed. Women today who bleach their hair and tan are equally concerned with their appearance but express it differently . As to your comment on fair complexion, you are excluding women with darker skin as unfeminine and ugly. So women who aren’t white are according to you, physically inferior. As for the compliments you receive, your appearance fits into culturally accepted ideals of “classical” beauty.

Wouldn’t it be great if women wore more slips as dressses.

These were the women who were marriage material then. Back then people got married young. When i see these women and you see the way they move and how they flow can you blame them…lol. I picture my mommy like this when i see these beauties. Amazing thing is most from that era married and remained married 40, 50. 60 years. like my Grandparents.

Women were so gorgeous then… They were Really lady like. I love the way they look pretty, clean and neat and with a touch of sexiness ! My mommy was a teen in the 1950′s. She had that classy yet innocent look. Lucky her to have lived those times !!

Thanks for sharing glamourdaze.
I have always believed women in the 40′s and 50′s looked better than women in any other time in the 20th century. Hollywood was glamorous and so were the women. I work in the business in LA myself and there are simply no women today (or in the last 10 or 20 years for that matter) that can compete with the likes of Rita Hayworth, Linda Darnell, Ava Gardner Gene Tierney, etc.
Like oasisnole, I too want to go back in time.

@bloodtears1821 you are so right! I feel this is why so many women don’t even try…I mean how could we even get close to what the media says we should look like?!

Back then any woman could look beautiful. The petite small breasted woman, the chunky voluptuous woman or the tall lanky woman.. No matter what size they were.. or how they styled their hair, short or long, they were all considered pretty. Now it seems like there’s one image of beauty from the media.. Long hair. Big breasts. Tan skin. And, Give or take a big butt.

Back then women made themselves attractive for their man, today they don’t care.

Classic style in the 1940′s, but not a time of equality, for women, people of color, gay people or the handicap. So yes bring back some of the style, but not the inequality of the time.

one thing I love about women back then is they took such pride in their appearance, they had soft feminine hairstlye, and fair complexions, most women of today OVERLY tan there skin and look orange, and bleach their hair VERY HORRIBLE LOOK) learn from the women in these videos what being FEMININE IS! I wear my hair and makeup just like these women in the video, and I always get compliments.
