lingerie bags–: Will I ruin my sweater if it says hand wash only but I put it in a lingerie bag in the machine?
It’s a very fluffy acrylic sweater and my daughter’s favorite. I refused to let my husband wash it but I’m positive it would get ruined.
(not a mesh bag but a nice Woolite bag.) It’s my daughter’s favorite fluffy acrylic pink sweater with lots of long yarn to it.

I’ve done it with almost every acrylic sweater I own without damaging any of them. Here is how I do it. I do put it in a fine mesh bag on the extra delicate cycle, I use woolite or a detergent specially formulated for delicates. I allow it it go through the shortest cycle, drain and rinse, but I do not allow it to go through the spin cycle. I remove the soaking wet sweater onto a thick terry towel and slowly roll and squeeze the towel over the sweater to gently remove all of the excess water. I block my sweater (trace the sweater on to a piece of brown paper bag or large piece of paper before washing) by placing it on the paper and gently manipulating the fibers to conform back into the shape it was before I laundered it.
I do have a rack that can be placed in the dryer which stays stationery while the drum turns and will often place sweaters on it and partiall dry them on the air only cycle. This re-fluffs the fibers. I then re-block the sweater just to ensure that it retained its shape.
You can also use one of the Dryel dryer dry cleaning kits or a product called Sweater Fresh in the dryer instead of using the washing machine method.

You really have to follow the advice on the label for cleaning an item. Unless you have a “delicates” or “handwash” cycle on your washing machine, don’t put it in there. Actually I don’t even trust my “handwash” cycle for most things. If I really don’t want to take the risk of ruining something, I do it strictly by hand. It’s all that bouncing around and spinning that does some of these items in, and you certainly wont have a very “fluffy” sweater for long if you put it in the machine.

Q&A–: I really need to know where to buy a lingerie bag for my bras?
I need to find a lingerie bag to put my bras in when I throw them in the washing machine/dryer. If anyone on here knows a place to get them, I would much appreciate it!
Thanks in advance! ![]()

Thats really HOTT. Ive never heard of such a thing. Cant you wash them on the delicates cycle?
Answer by Mary N
I’m quite sure I’ve seen them at the Container Store before. I’d check Sears, Kmart, Target and stores like that as well.
If you check and they don’t have them, I’d try searching online.
