Response to twish1999′s vid called, “Laundry day at Twish Towers!” Where ravensky23 shows her Grandma Madson’s washboard! Update: Thank you to my subscriber, erra404. She gave me the link below for the Columbus Washboard Company. They still exist! You can still buy washboards from them. God Bless the Amish and the the craft-persons of the world for keeping them going. I really can’t imagine having to wash all your clothes with a washboard. I’m so spoiled! (says the woman who spins yarn and weaves cloth) hahaha www.columbuswashboard.com LOL Read the following instructions from their website: HOW TO USE A WASHBOARD 1. It is okay to wash laundry in cold water 2. Put water in the tub until ¾ full 3. Put underwear into the water to soak 4. Rest the soap bar at the top of the board 5. Rub underwear (garment), over soap and then rub item vigorously on the metal (glass) rub surface 6. Repeat step 5 until item is clean 7. Put shirts in water and use step 4 to clean 8. Wash pants the same way 9. Last item to wash would be your socks. Allow them to soak and then use step 5 many times. 10. Do not discard water. Soak your feet for 20 minutes; it will feel sooo good! 11. Dry your feet; apply foot powder, clean socks and boots 12. Discard …

  • just thought you might want to know…Columbus Washboard Company is still around. I think they are the last company still producing washboards in America…commercially for washing. so ya they have a website and everything.

    It is fascinating though Debbie to see how used that washboard is, and although we laugh it must have been so useful back then.
