Q&A: Pale skintone, need makeup advice.?

I have extremely pale skin (to give you an idea, the powder I use right now is the lightest tone the line commercially sells) and am having some makeup issues. Covering the rings under my eyes or any blemish is extremely difficult, so I was wondering if anyone with some experience here could reccomend a product or system that could keep me from having to cake on makeup.

Additionally, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what color palattes would look good (dark brown hair, blue eyes) with my coloring? Black eye liner seems to make me look gothic, and most non-neutral colors look too stark and silly. Help!

try a mineral foundation it covers very well and they have very light shades at sephora. it doesnt look caked on at all. I have similar coloring to you i think. Try a nice pink blush on your cheeksfor a pop of color it will really brighten your face and show off the beauty of your skin tone. Try maroons, purples, peaches, on your eyes. I would suggest a chocolate color for your eyeliner and mascara. Its a lot softer and will not make you look goth!! Good Luck!

I can definetely relate to you. I still have a problem with circles under my eyes, though I know that Amazing Cosmetics makes a concealer(one of the best on the market!) in a very light shade that will probably work well for covering up undereye circles. I have yet to buy it though, because it’s . I use my foundation to cover up acne, it looks less splotchy and is lighter.
I use brown eyeliner a lot becase it makes my eyes look pretty with out being so dramatic. There are good black eyeliners that won’t be too overpowering on fair skin. I use a stila gel one and revlon pencil. Whenever I use them, I make sure to use mascara and some light eyeshadow, like mauve or light gold so it doesn’t stand out so much. With your dark brown hair, it should be easy to pull off black eyeliner.

I feel your pain! I’m a red-head and very pale-skinned. icon smile Pale skintone, need makeup advice.?

I use Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals, their foundations give great coverage without looking caked, and just make the skin look glowing (I always get compliments when I wear it, and I never did before I started using it), and there are a lot of really subtle products they have that you can use that will give you nice color, without looking fake. I believe there are other mineral-based products out there, but honestly, I haven’t tried many of them. I tried one of the cheapie drugstore brands of mineral-based foundation and used it once, never again. I’m not trying to plug, just my experience.

For undereyes, I’ve known a lot of people who have really good luck with Origins “No Puffery”, it’s a light oil-free liquid you dab on under your eyes, and it seems to work really well.

If you don’t tan, don’t try. I don’t know why people always tell fair-skinned people to tan. Ugh.

As for colors I always go with really basic browns and beiges. MAC has great colors, and there’s a set that Bare Minerals sells called “Vineyard” (or something similar) which is all purples, but nice purples, nothing obnoxious. I was hesitant, but it looked great. For eyeliner, I use Stila Smudge pots in bronze. It’s just brown enough without being too obnoxious. Those smudge pots are the best eyeliner I’ve ever used. icon smile Pale skintone, need makeup advice.?

Also, get brown/black mascara. It doesn’t look much different, but it actually makes a noticeable difference when I put it on versus black.

One other suggestion: if you have pale eyebrows dye them. My hair is a very rich red, but my eyebrows are totally blonde, so I dye them, and it makes a huge difference. Eyebrows should match the haircolor, it just looks more natural, and frames the face a little better.

Good luck!

I have the same problem. I use a cheap cover up stick by I love my face. However when I go to get a new cover up stick I’m going to try the Neutragena one. . . I can’t remember the exact name of it but it’s green so if you go looking for it there is no way to miss it. And here maybe a handy trick. . . when my eye circles are really dark I put on my concealer then I take my blush (which has a pink tone to it) and lightly run blush along my under eye. You have to be careful not to use to much. Then take your normal foundation and apply it under your eye. I’m not sure if this will work for everyone because I don’t use a powder foundation. But hopefully it’ll help.

As far as the color palates I think it depends on what your undertone in your skin is. You obviously must have fair skin which has a pink undertone. Try using pinks in your make up also brown eyeliner and/or eyeshadow can make your blue eyes pop too.

Good Luck.
